Flow

I don't know if it's me or if this is a thing but I am more productive when life's busier.

It's been a long summer. Summer isn't foreign to Germany, or to Latvia, or even to the many Nordic countries, but, after almost three years in Northern Ireland, I can say it's rare.

London has nice summers. I experienced a few days of them. Now, after the holiday and work in Turkey, Belfast is pretty warm too! The sun being out there, getting a bit more sleep, and having had a lovely time with loved ones, I'm full of energy. I get several things done: housework, looking after our toddler, creative work, translation and teaching work. All of then are part-time and yet full time in the meanwhile because I have to multitask when I work from home or when I usually do not, it's still a lot of work.

But I can't complain! That's the thing. I love working. I love taking care of our little one. I love keeping things in order, and eating at home.

Even when I was a small child, I was busy. That being said I learnt the importance of meditating, being present/mindful/watchful/aware -whatever you call it. Meditation for me is being in the present as much as I can. Spending time with loved ones, helping people, sharing deep feelings and thoughts, being among lovely strangers, doing something new...

Afterall, the social life back home this summer was so fulfilling that now, all I want is to work. And I can focus. My mind is not chattering. Rather I'm flowing, not floating. Csíkszentmihályi is right. Flow is bliss.
